The Issues

And where I stand. Although we may disagree on some aspects I will never disparage you for your deeply held beliefs. I welcome dialogue and discussion.

01

Housing

Canada does not have the luxury of abundant, highly productive land. We desperately need the federal government to lead in boosting housing supply with the help of smart policies, technologies and interprovincial cooperation. And we must get serious about turning cities and regions beyond the GTA and Vancouver into attractive places to live.

02

Economy

I am a Conservative who believes there is a legitimate role for government to play in the economy, setting frameworks to enable competition. But businesses look to government for certainty, not red tape. We must modernize our regulations, cut taxes, and get back to rewarding successful entrepreneurs who take risks and create jobs.

03

Crime

I personally know several families in Burlington who have been the subject of break-ins and car thefts over the past year. This is not acceptable and we need to bolster the resources available to police and reform the bail system to deter repeat offenders. We must also tackle the root causes of crime by creating a stronger economy.

04

Immigration

I fully support immigration and welcoming hardworking people to Canada. That said, the Liberal government has moved too fast and there is not enough capacity in the economy to provide newcomers with fulfilling opportunities. This is a lose-lose situation. Let's work with the private sector to build the infrastructure and capacity required to give people the future they deserve.

05

Budget & Taxes

The disrespect of this government for people's hard-earned dollars is beyond imagination. I support cutting the wasteful spending happening in Ottawa, and returning those funds in the form of lower taxes. You deserve value for money, and a Conservative government will deliver. For every dollar spent, there must be a clear rationale why you are getting more back in return.

06

Senate Reform

An unelected Senate hurts Canada greatly and breeds mistrust between the provinces and federal government. Now is the time to finally let the people decide who their Senators are. This will introduce more competition in the political system, resulting in better outcomes for you over the long-term.

Federal-Provincial Relations

It's time to bring common sense to Ottawa and restore Canada's national consensus. If we're serious about securing a better future for our country, let's finally move forward with interprovincial free-trade and a unified national securities regulator. How can we have free trade with the US and other countries, yet not between provinces? Barriers to trade are costing hardworking Canadians. Now is the moment to bring our country together and move forward.

08

Defence

The Trudeau government has ignored the needs of Canada's military and our NATO commitments for 10 years. Our reputation abroad is suffering as a result, spilling over into other aspects of our international relations. We must re-invest in our capabilities and support cutting-edge aerospace firms in setting up shop and exporting their tech from right here in Burlington.

09

Environment

I believe our country must secure a clean environment. Working with the private sector, let's ramp up investment in technology and infrastructure to enhance energy efficiency and give people more options. The poorly implemented and divisive carbon tax is not the right solution for Canada

10

Free Speech

The ability to express opinions openly and engage in respectful debate is a hard-fought cornerstone of our democracy. Publicly funded institutions should not suppress it - and moreover face consequences if they do. I will cut funding for WOKE campuses that don't protect free speech.

11

Welfare State

I will not support wholesale cuts to the programs and services you need. That being said, we must get back to the basics and strengthen our economy and national fabric (see above) if we're serious about supporting these programs over the long-term. Common sense and smart economic thinking are badly needed. That's what myself and Conservatives plan to bring to Ottawa on your behalf.

12

Government Transparency

The Federal Government is known for its culture of secrecy. This is partially enabled by an outdated and archaic access to information (ATI) framework. Canadian researchers must often rely upon foreign records to learn about our own country's decisions. This must stop. I will push to align our ATI approach and record disclosure methods with global peers.

Canada-US Relations

Living in such close proximity to a large neighbour comes with both benefits and risks. As your MP for Burlington, I will champion a more assertive and independent national identity. Getting back to the basics of strengthening our economy and breaking down barriers to competition - will ultimately make us matter more to Washington, and insure Canada's industries against America's political fluctuations.
