Why I'm Running
Canada is at a crossroads. We have everything we need to secure a great future for this country - fantastic people, abundant natural resources, and plenty of space. Yet the Liberal government has divided Canadians by implementing an "Ottawa knows best" approach. Our Country is struggling to add up to more than the sum of its parts. It's time for leadership that brings us back together and unlocks Canada's potential as an indispensable nation.

Dear Neighbour,

My name is Connor and I am running to be the Conservative Party of Canada’s nominee for Burlington in the next federal election. Today I am here to introduce myself and respectfully ask for your support.

I am proud of the values Canada stands for. The world desperately needs our ideas, tolerance and leadership to navigate turbulence ahead.

Yet in an age of uncertainty and competition, Canada's institutions and national consensus desperately need renewal. Under the Liberals, we have failed to adjust to new risks and opportunities - be they technological, geopolitical, environmental and social.

Outdated ways of conducting government, entitled leaders, and top-down governance have created the conditions for a rapidly declining standard of living in Canada. The OECD reports that Canada’s forward looking productivity growth is lowest among all countries. This means living standards will diminish over time as we transition from a modern, sophisticated nation towards an economic backwater.

In my decision to contest Burlington’s Conservative Nomination, I was inspired by the opportunity to champion a new national consensus, get our economy back on track, and ensure hard-working people and risk-takers see Burlington as a place they can call home.

There are structural issues with the economy that need fixing. We have a free-trade agreement with the United States - yet not between Canada's provinces. We are 2-5 years behind our allies when it comes to competing in emerging sectors like AI and outer space. Telecom, airlines banking and grocery firms continue to reap massive profits while Canadians are left to suffer, one fee at a time. Young people cannot afford to live here and are leaving for better opportunities abroad. It now costs $100 for a small bag of groceries. These issues should have been dealt with years ago.

Getting the economy back on track and cutting wasteful spending will be my first priority if you send me to Ottawa. Let's invest in cutting-edge infrastructure and technology to ensure all Canadians have access to a decent future. This will create good, high paying jobs and ultimately support the social services people cherish and need.

In all domains including politics, Canada must compete, compete, compete. My personal commitment, should I become MP, is to vigorously champion an elected Senate and interprovincial free trade. These are examples of initiatives that will bring this country together - institutionally and physically - and secure the better future we all want and deserve. We have been divided for too long.

I pledge to be assertive yet fair when advocating on your behalf. I will not accept second best for Burlington, or Canada. You deserve the very best.

More than anything, I’m driven to help my neighbours, community and country realize their true potential. Better is possible if we have the courage to reach for it. As your nominee and future MP, I promise to remain engaged, accessible, and committed to building a vibrant Conservative community in Burlington.

JOIN ME AND LETS GO FOR GOLD, TOGETHER!

Sincerely yours,

Connor
